Flowers make me happy, and seven beautiful blooms in one morning is quite something. I don't even know the name of these gorgeous flowers.

Name: Ivy

Blog Name: Hungry Caterpillar

Because I read The Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle a million times to my daughter, and because I love how the caterpillar ate and ate, and was then transformed into a beautiful butterfly.

Because my daughter’s name starts with C, and she is one the reasons why I cook… so she’ll eat well. My two nieces’ names start with C too, because my sisters think their names should be linked to my daughter’s.

Lives In: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

I grew up in a family obsessed with food; with mother, aunts and grandmothers intent on feeding us. That’s how they love us, and love us well. And that’s how I love my family and friends too.

    Hi Ivy,

Love your “the hungry caterpillar” website.

Now I know why it is named as such. So happened I also like to cook and also my 4 y.o. girl like me not only read to her The Hungry Caterpillar but also at the sametime the book comes with bits and pieces of all the foods that the hungry caterpillar ate and I have to read and ‘demonstrate’ using those pieces and it was great fun.

By the way, do you have anything on Steamboat especially the sauces?

Thank you and see you in Cyberspace.

    Cheers, Maggi

    Hello, Ivy!

Glad to have found your blog through Quinn! So, it was you who gave my name to the PR firm/event planner for Tupperware’s SteamIt?

I’d like to thank you so much for extending the invitation to me! I asked the guy (well, I’ve forgotten about his name) how he got to know of my blog. He replied it was from you and he said you were going to be at the event. Alas, you weren’t there and I enquired about your absence through him. I just wished I could get to meet you up in person!

The product, though, on the other hand, never makes its appearance on my blog as: 1) I don’t intend to commercialize my stuff; 2) I don’t have to time to do product endorsement as I’m working full-time. My only time to play around in the kitchen is weekends nowadays. I’m sorry that I might have disappointed you, the event planner and Tupperware. I just can’t commit myself to that. I attended the event out of curiosity since it was my first time being invited to a product launch. Now that I know.

In the meantime, keep it up! You know there’s a thing called food journalism. I can see one in yours. Will be back for more comforting words on comfort foods. =)

    Cheers,
    Pei-Lin (Dodol & Mochi)

    Hi Ivy
You mentioned you used your new Visions pot. I wondered about the days some 15 years ago when we could get the visions cookware from the duty-free island of langkawi. Can you advise whereabouts in Malaysia can i see the full range of visions, correlle and pyrex? I'm coming back to KL for a short holiday and would like to buy a few extraordinary items home!
Thanks for this website – i'm starting on a few of your recipes – they remind me of home food!

      Hi Catherine
You can buy Visions and Corningware pots at most of the shopping malls in Kuala Lumpur. They are just more expensive than at tax-free zones such as Langkawi or in Pengkalan Kubur, Kelantan.

The flower in your picture is a gloxinia. If you know the name, you will be able to find more info about it, hence how to take care of your lovely plant. Their ‘makan’ needs are much simplier than us humans, no need for many recipes. Good Luck in your cooking blog and Happy New Year 2011!
